Delete your FreeBusy account

App: FreeBusy · Developer: Akhil Reddy · Last updated: 22 May 2026

You can delete your FreeBusy account and the data associated with it at any time. Below are the two supported ways to request deletion and a precise list of what gets removed, what is kept, and for how long.

Option A — Delete from inside the app

  1. Open the FreeBusy app on your Android device.
  2. Go to the Settings tab (bottom navigation).
  3. Scroll to the Account section.
  4. Tap Delete account and confirm the prompt with your registered phone number.
  5. Your account, contacts, key material, and pending envelopes are removed immediately. You will be signed out.

Option B — Request deletion by email

If you no longer have access to the app, email [email protected] from any address with the subject line "Delete my FreeBusy account" and include:

  • The phone number registered on your account (with country code).
  • The display name on your account, if you remember it.

We will verify ownership by sending a one-time code to that phone number via SMS. Once verified, your account is deleted within 7 business days. We will email you confirmation when the deletion is complete.

What is deleted

The following data is permanently removed when your account is deleted:

  • Your account profile (phone number, display name, email, profile photo).
  • Your public key bundle (identity key, signed pre-key, one-time pre-keys).
  • Your contact list and group memberships, on our servers.
  • Any encrypted signal envelopes addressed to you that have not yet been delivered.
  • Any encrypted signal envelopes you sent that have not yet been delivered to the recipient.
  • Push notification tokens registered against your account.
  • One-time password (OTP) records associated with your phone number.
  • Refresh tokens and active sessions.

What is kept (and for how long)

  • Operational logs — HTTP request metadata (timestamp, route, status code, IP address) that does not contain account identifiers is retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse-prevention purposes, then deleted automatically.
  • Aggregated counters — e.g. total accounts, total signals delivered — are kept indefinitely in aggregate form. These do not identify you.
  • Records required by law — if we are legally required to retain specific records (for tax, accounting, or law-enforcement preservation orders), we will retain only the minimum necessary and only for the period required by law.

Data that lives on other users' devices

Signals you previously sent to contacts have already been decrypted and cached on their devices. Because FreeBusy is end-to-end encrypted, we cannot reach into another user's device to remove this cached data. If you want a specific contact to delete their local cache of your signals, ask them directly — they can clear it from Settings → Privacy → Clear signal history on their device.

Push notification provider

When your account is deleted, we revoke and delete the push token we hold for your device. Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) operates the underlying delivery channel and follows its own retention policy — see Google's privacy policy .
